Most Sydney suburbs on the coast are happy with one beach but not Manly. It has two, and both are famous. There’s the spectacular surf beach on the Pacific coast that is lined with Norfolk Island Pines and immortalised by world-class surfers, and the harbour-side beach which is a Mecca for water sports including windsurfing and parasailing.

The latter is also where the ferry from Circular Quay docks, and the stepping off point for all manner of great shops, cafes and restaurants between the beaches. Stroll beneath the Norfolk Island Pines along the surf beach promenade or if you’re feeling energetic, hire rollerblades and do it in double-quick time.

Indulge in some retail therapy in the Corso, or sit back with a coffee and enjoy the entertainment provided by one of the regular shows put on in the Corso amphitheatre.
For a break from the buzz, visit Oceanworld where you can get up close and personal to huge sharks and rays, and dangerous snakes and spiders, or take a short bus ride to North Head.
From North Fort on the cliff top, you can look back to the city across the water and wave to the ships as they come and go from the harbour. This is one of the most spectacular lookout points in all of Sydney.
